Can I change my username?

Your username can't be changed once your account is created, but your display name can be changed anytime. Most people only need to change the display name, since that's the name shown on your profile, posts and music.
Username vs. display name
- Username: your @handle and the address of your profile (offtheave.com/yourname). It's used in @mentions and links people have shared. It's permanent.
- Display name: the name shown in big type on your profile and next to your posts and uploads. It can have spaces, capitals and other characters, up to 50 characters, and you can change it whenever you like.
Change your display name
- Go to Edit profile.
- Under About you, edit Display name.
- Select Save in the bar at the bottom.
Why usernames are permanent
Your username is part of your profile's address and of every link to your posts, photos and albums. Changing it would break links people have saved or shared, and could let someone else pick up your old name.
If there's a real problem with your username
There's no way to change it yourself. If your username has a serious problem, for example it's an old username that doesn't work well in links, or it includes personal information you need removed, contact us and pick Account & sign-in. Tell us your current username and what's wrong. We can't promise a change.
If you signed up with Google, X, Facebook, Discord or Reddit, your username was created from the name on that account. Check it in Settings → Account.
