Twenty years on the Ave
offtheave started as a place for independent artists to be heard without a label or a gatekeeper. The site has changed a lot since then, but the idea hasn’t: put the music first, give creators real tools, and keep the community at the center.
- 2006offtheave starts as a hip-hop forum for artists and fans to share music and talk about the culture.
- 2010sThe forum grows into a home for mixtapes, videos, profiles and groups, and for independent artists well beyond hip-hop: R&B, soul, house, rock and more.
- 2026offtheave v5 launches on July 26, the 20th anniversary: rebuilt from scratch with a site-wide player, communities, the Market, Creator Studio and plans.
