How do I open a downloaded mixtape?
On this page
A mixtape downloads as a single ZIP file named after the mixtape. Unzip (extract) it and you'll get a folder with every track as its own audio file, numbered in tracklist order, plus a small ReadMe.txt with a link to the artist's music.
What's inside
- One file per track, named with its track number and title, like
01_-_Intro.mp3, so they sort in order. - ReadMe.txt with a link to the artist's music page on offtheave.
- Tracks you're not allowed to see (for example a private track on a public mixtape) are left out of a free download.
Opening it
Windows
- Open your Downloads folder.
- Right-click the ZIP file and choose Extract All, then Extract.
- Open the new folder and double-click a track to play it.
Mac
- Open Downloads in Finder.
- Double-click the ZIP file. A folder with the same name appears next to it.
- Open the folder and play the tracks, or drag them into your music app.
iPhone and iPad
- Open the Files app and go to Downloads.
- Tap the ZIP file. It unzips into a folder.
- Tap a track to play it.
Android
- Open your file manager (for example Files by Google) and go to Downloads.
- Tap the ZIP file and choose Extract.
- Open the folder and tap a track to play it.
Troubleshooting
- The ZIP won't open or says it's damaged: the download was probably cut off. Delete it and download it again from the mixtape page. A failed download doesn't use up one of your daily downloads.
- A file inside starts with "ERROR": that track couldn't be added to the ZIP. Download the mixtape again. If it keeps happening, contact us with the mixtape's link.
- A track won't play on my device: every file inside ends in .mp3, even when the artist uploaded a different format such as WAV or FLAC. Try a player like VLC, which plays any of these.
- I can't find the file: check your browser's downloads list. It's usually in your Downloads folder.
