Can I download music?

Yes, when the artist allows it. Sign in, open the song or mixtape, and select Download. Free downloads count toward your plan's daily download limit. Music you've bought can always be downloaded from My Library → Purchased.

Downloading a free song or mixtape

1. Sign in. Guests can't download.
2. Open the song or mixtape page and select Download.
3. You'll see how many downloads you have left today. Select Download to confirm.

A song downloads as a single audio file. A mixtape downloads as one ZIP file with all of its tracks. See How do I open a downloaded mixtape?

Your daily download limit

Look for Downloads in this table:

• Each song or mixtape you download counts as one download, even a mixtape with many tracks.
• The count resets every day at midnight UTC.
• When you've used them all, you'll see Daily Limit Reached. Come back tomorrow, or upgrade for a higher limit.
• A download that fails doesn't count.

Why the Download button isn't working

Hover over or tap the button to see why:

• The artist turned off downloads: they chose not to allow downloads.
• Log in to download: you need to be signed in.
• Buy this track to download it: it's for sale. After you buy it, you can download it. See Buying music.

You also can't download something you can't see, such as a private or followers-only upload, or one that isn't released yet.

Downloading music you bought

1. Go to My Library → Purchased.
2. Open the item's ⋯ menu and choose Download.
3. Pick a file. A song or beat always has the MP3. If the artist added a WAV to a song you bought, you get that too. If you bought a beat, you also get the WAV or Stems when your license includes them. A mixtape downloads as All tracks in one ZIP file.

For beats, choose License (PDF) from the same menu to download your license. Downloads of things you bought don't count toward the daily limit, and neither do downloads of your own uploads.

For artists: allowing downloads

On the upload or edit form, under Publishing, turn Downloads on or off. Anything you put up for sale can always be downloaded by the people who buy it. You can always download your own uploads.
