Timestamped comments
On this page
While a song, mixtape, playlist, video or short is playing, the comment you write is pinned to that moment, like "Commenting at 1:15". Other people can select the time on your comment to jump straight to that part, and the Timeline sort lists comments in the order of the moments they're about.
Leave a timestamped comment
- Start playing the song, mixtape, playlist, video or short on its page.
- Go to Comments. Above the comment box you'll see Commenting at and the current time.
- Start typing. The moment holds where it is once you start, so the music can keep playing.
- Post your comment. It shows the time it's pinned to.
- Don't want a timestamp? Select Remove next to the time before posting. To add it back, select Pin to and the time.
- If nothing is playing (or it's still at the very start), your comment is posted without a time.
- Timestamps are for top-level comments. Replies don't get their own.
Mixtapes and playlists
On a mixtape or playlist, the time shown is the time across the whole project, like 10:33, with a hint such as "Track 4 at 1:26". The comment is saved with that track and spot, so it keeps pointing to the right moment even if the tracks are reordered later. If that track is removed, its moments are hidden.
Jump to a moment
Select the time on any comment to play from that exact spot. On a song page it starts the song there if it isn't already playing.
Sort by Timeline
At the top of the comments, switch the sort between Top, Newest and Timeline. Timeline lists timestamped comments from the start of the track to the end, followed by comments without a time. It's a quick way to follow reactions as you listen.
Artists: the Timeline sort shows which parts of your song people react to most. It's useful when you're picking a clip to promote.
Troubleshooting
- I don't see "Commenting at": make sure the thing you're commenting on is the one playing, and that it's past the first second.
- I can't comment: the artist may have turned comments off for that upload.
