Tips
Tips let you send a creator money directly as $DORA, from your Solana wallet to theirs. Tipping is only available when it's switched on for the site. When it isn't, you won't see any Tip buttons, and you can support creators by buying their music or sharing it instead.
Where the Tip button appears
When tipping is on, a Tip button appears on posts, comments, profiles, messages, videos, shorts, photos, mixtapes and playlists, but only when:
- the creator has linked a Solana wallet, and
- it isn't your own content.
Send a tip
- Link your own Solana wallet first: Settings → Payments → $DORA wallet → Link a wallet.
- Click Tip on the post, profile or content.
- Pick an amount in dollars ($1, $5, $10 or $25) or enter your own, from $0.01 up to $10,000. Click Continue.
- Check the summary: the dollar amount, about how much $DORA that is at the current price, and who receives it.
- Click Send Tip. Your wallet opens; approve the transfer there.
- When the transfer is confirmed on the blockchain, you'll see Tip sent! and the creator is notified.
Tips are sent from your own wallet and are non-refundable. offtheave can't reverse them. Solana charges a small network fee.
Receive tips
- Link a Solana wallet in Settings → Payments.
- That's it. Tip buttons appear on your content for other members, and tips arrive in your wallet directly. offtheave doesn't hold them.
You'll get a notification for each tip. Unlinking your wallet removes the Tip buttons from your content.
Troubleshooting
- "Tipping is not yet available." Tips are switched off right now.
- "You need to link a Solana wallet before you can tip." Link one in Settings → Payments.
- "This user hasn't linked a Solana wallet yet." They can't receive tips until they do.
- "You cannot tip yourself." Tips only go to other members.
- "Transaction could not be verified on-chain." The transfer may not have gone through, or it's still confirming. Check your wallet's activity before trying again so you don't send twice.
