Beat licenses

Updated · 2 min read

Yes. You sell beats with license tiers you create in Creator Studio → Licenses. Each tier has its own price, set of files, stream limit, rights and written agreement. Buyers pick the tier they want, and each purchase comes with a license PDF.

Create your licenses

  1. Go to Creator Studio → Licenses and click New license.
  2. Fill in:
    • Name, for example "Basic lease" (up to 60 characters).
    • Price in dollars, from $0.99 to $100,000.
    • Stream limit. Leave it empty for unlimited.
    • Files the buyer gets: MP3, MP3 and WAV, or MP3, WAV and stems.
    • Live shows and Radio and TV: whether the buyer may perform it live or have it played on radio or TV.
    • Agreement: the license text. A standard non-exclusive agreement is filled in for you to edit.
  3. Click Create license. You can keep up to 20 licenses.

Use a tier's ⋯ menu to Edit, Read agreement or Delete it.

Put licenses on your beats

  • New uploads: when you upload a beat, your licenses are added to it. If you have none yet, a basic Standard Lease is added so the beat can still sell.
  • Existing beats: in Your library, open the Beats tab, select one or more beats and click Licenses. Pick the tiers to offer and click Apply. This replaces the licenses on those beats with the current version of each tier, including its terms and agreement.

After creating or editing tiers, apply them from your library to make sure each beat carries every term exactly as you set it.

Files for buyers

When you upload or edit a beat, add the Untagged WAV and stems in Files for buyers. These are kept private and only offered to buyers whose license includes them. Buyers of an MP3 tier get the MP3.

Editing and deleting

  • Editing a tier doesn't change beats you've already put up. Apply it again from your library to update them.
  • Deleting a tier stops you picking it for new beats. Beats that already offer it keep it until you change their licenses.
  • Licenses someone has already bought keep working for that buyer, with the name and agreement they bought, even if you remove the tier from the beat.

What the buyer sees and gets

  1. On a beat, the buyer clicks Buy a license and sees each tier with its price, files, streams, and live show and radio rights.
  2. After checkout, the beat is in their library → Purchased with the license name.
  3. From the ⋯ menu, Download offers the files their license includes, and License (PDF) downloads the license with the buyer, seller, beat, purchase date and terms.

There's no built-in exclusive sale: a beat stays on sale after someone buys a license. If you sell exclusive rights, take the beat off sale or remove its other licenses yourself.
