Promo codes

Updated · 2 min read

Promo codes let you give fans a discount on your songs, beats and mixtapes. You create them in Creator Studio → Promos. Promo codes come with some paid plans, and how many you can have live and how many times each can be used depend on your plan.

Which plans include them

If your plan doesn't include promo codes, the Promos tab tells you which plan you need.

Create a code

  1. Go to Creator Studio → Promos and click New code.
  2. Code: type one (3 to 32 letters, numbers, dashes or underscores) or click Make one. Codes are uppercase and must be unique across the site.
  3. Discount: choose % off (1 to 100) or $ off ($0.01 to $1,000) and enter the amount.
  4. Optional limits:
    • Uses: how many times the code can be used. Your plan may cap this; leave it empty to use your plan's most.
    • Minimum order: the least a buyer must spend on your items.
    • Ends: the last day it works.
  5. Click Create code. It's live right away. Click the code to copy it and share it anywhere.

Manage your codes

  • Use the switch next to a code to turn it on or off. Turning a code on counts toward your plan's live-code limit.
  • From the ⋯ menu, Edit changes the uses, minimum order and end date. The code, discount type and amount can't be changed; make a new code instead.
  • Delete only works for codes nobody has used. Used codes stay in your sales history, so turn them off instead.
  • The tab shows Times used, Buyers saved and Sales with a code.

How buyers use a code

  1. They add your items to their cart.
  2. They type the code in Promo code and click Apply.
  3. The discount applies only to your items in the cart, not to other sellers' items.
  • One code per cart. Changing the cart clears the code, so apply it last.
  • % off codes work for card and XP payments. $ off codes work for card payments only.
  • The minimum order applies to card payments.

Limits and what can stop a code

  • A code stops working when it reaches its uses, passes its end date, or is turned off.
  • If your plan changes to one without promo codes, your codes stop working until you upgrade again.
  • The discount comes out of the sale price, so your fee and share are worked out on the lower amount. See Selling fees.

Troubleshooting

  • "This coupon code already exists." Someone has that code. Try another or click Make one.
  • "You have reached your limit of active coupons." Turn a code off, or upgrade for more.
  • A buyer says the code doesn't apply. Check it's on, not expired or used up, that their cart has your items, and that they meet the minimum order.
