What is XP and how do I earn it?
On this page
XP is offtheave's points. You earn it by uploading, taking part and getting noticed, and you can spend it on plans, badges, boosts and music, or withdraw it as $DORA. Everything you've ever earned also sets your level. 1 XP is worth $0.01 when you spend it on offtheave.
Balance and level: two different numbers
- Balance is the XP you have to spend right now. Spending or withdrawing lowers it.
- Lifetime is all the XP you've earned. It sets your level, and spending or withdrawing never lowers it. See Levels.
Both are at the top of the XP page, with your rank and what you earned in the last 24 hours.
Ways to earn XP
This list comes straight from the site's current settings, with how much each action is worth and any daily limit.
You also earn XP when someone buys your music with XP: your share of the sale goes into your balance. See Selling fees.
Daily limits
- Many actions have a daily limit. It's a rolling 24 hours, not a calendar day, so each action frees up again 24 hours after you did it.
- Some actions also have a short wait between one award and the next, so posting many comments in a row doesn't earn more.
- Sale earnings aren't limited.
- The Today's earning card on the XP page shows each limited action, how many you've used and a shortcut to go do it.
When XP is taken back
- If you undo what earned it (unlike, unfollow, remove a bookmark) or delete the upload, post or comment, the XP it earned is taken back from your balance.
- If content is removed by moderators, its XP is taken back too.
- Some penalties, such as spam or a valid report against your content, take XP away and also lower your level.
- Your balance never goes below zero.
XP earned through fake activity, like trading likes or duplicate accounts, can be removed, and it can lead to action on your account. See What isn't allowed.
See your history
The History tab on the XP page lists every change with filters for Earned, Spent, Withdrawn and Other. The Leaderboard tab ranks members by lifetime XP, All time or the Last 30 days.
Good to know
- XP has no cash value on its own and can't be sold or traded outside offtheave, except through withdrawal to $DORA. See the Terms.
- XP rates and limits are set by offtheave and can change.
