My post was removed, or I was banned from a community
Community moderators can remove posts and ban members from their community. You'll get a notification either way, usually with a reason. A community ban only affects that one community, not the rest of your account.
If your post was removed
- Your notification reads "The moderators of [community] removed your post", followed by the reason if they gave one.
- You can still open your post. It's marked as removed and shows the reason. Other members can't see it.
- Comments and votes on it are closed.
- Moderators can restore it later. If they do, it goes back to normal.
If you were banned
- Your notification says you were banned, for how many days (or with no end date), and why.
- You're removed from the community's members, and its Join button shows Banned.
- You can still read its public posts, but you can't post, comment, vote or rejoin.
- Temporary bans end on their own. After that you can join again.
What you can do
- Read the community's rules on its page. The removal reason often names the rule.
- If you think it was a mistake, message a moderator. Moderators are listed in the Moderators section of the community page. Tap one and use Message. Keep it short and polite, and name the post.
- If a warning or restriction shows up on your infractions page, you can appeal it there. If a community ban is overturned on appeal, you can post in that community again right away.
Moderators decide what fits their community, and a removal isn't a site-wide strike. Site-wide warnings, suspensions and bans come from offtheave staff and work differently. See Why was my account suspended or banned?.
If a moderator is harassing you or abusing their tools, don't argue in the community. Report it or contact us through Contact, with links to what happened.
