How do I report something?
Open the ⋯ menu on the post, comment, song, video, profile or other item and choose Report. Pick a reason, add details if you like, and select Send report. It goes straight to the moderators.
What you can report
- Posts in your feed or on a profile: Report post in the post's ⋯ menu.
- Comments anywhere on the site: Report in the comment's ⋯ menu.
- Songs, beats, mixtapes, videos, shorts, playlists and photos: Report in the ⋯ menu on the item's page (or in the player for songs and shorts).
- Community posts and their comments: Report in the ⋯ menu.
- Members: on their profile, select More (⋯), then Report.
There's no Report button inside Messages. If someone sends you abusive or spam messages, block them from the conversation and report their profile. See How do I block or mute someone?.
Step by step
- Make sure you're signed in. Reporting needs an account.
- Open the ⋯ menu on what you want to report and choose Report.
- Under Reason, pick the one that fits best.
- Add Details (optional). Say what's wrong and where, for example a timestamp in a video or which part of a post.
- Select Send report. You'll see a confirmation.
Copyright is different
If your own work was uploaded without permission, don't use Report. The Report dialog links to Send a copyright notice, which opens the Copyright & DMCA form with the link filled in. See How do I file a DMCA copyright notice?.
What happens next
- Site moderators see every report. The person you reported is never told who reported them. Reporting the same thing again within a day doesn’t send a second report. Reports on community posts and comments also go to that community's owner and moderators.
- A moderator may dismiss the report, hide or remove the content, or give the member a warning or ban.
- The member you report isn't told who reported them.
- We don't send you a message about the outcome, but you'll often see the content disappear.
Tips
- Report the specific post or comment, not just the person, so moderators can see exactly what happened.
- One report is enough. Reporting the same thing many times doesn't speed it up.
- If you're in danger or someone is threatening you, contact local authorities as well.
- For problems that don't fit a report, such as a hacked account, use the Contact page.
