How do photo albums work?

Updated · 2 min read

Photos on offtheave live in albums on your profile's Photos tab. Each album has its own page, a cover photo, a description, and a setting for who can see it. The photos inside follow the album's setting.

Create an album

  1. Go to your profile and open the Photos tab.
  2. Tap New album.
  3. Give it a Title (up to 100 characters) and an optional Description. You can @mention people in it.
  4. Choose Who can see it: Public, Followers only, Private (only you), or Schedule a release to make it public at a time you pick.
  5. Tap Create album, then add photos.

You can also start from the Create menu: Add photos lets you pick an album or make a new one right there. See Photos.

The album's address

An album's link uses its name, like /yourname/albums/summer-tour-2026. If you rename the album, the address changes too, and the old link still takes people to it.

What you can change

  • Edit album (in the album's ⋯ menu): title, description and who can see it. Changing who can see it applies to every photo in the album.
  • Cover: the first photo you add becomes the cover. To change it, open a photo's ⋯ menu and tap Make album cover. If you delete the cover photo, another photo takes its place.
  • Add: add more photos to the album.
  • Delete album: deletes the album and all of its photos.

Sharing an album

  • Share gives you a link and share options.
  • Repost puts the album in your followers' feeds. Only public albums can be reposted.
  • As the owner you can Boost an album. See How do boosts work?.

Scheduling

Scheduled albums go public at the date and time you pick, in your time zone. Until then, visitors see a countdown. Scheduling is only on plans that include scheduled releases. See How do I schedule a release?.

Deleting an album also deletes its photos, with their likes and comments. It can't be undone.

Troubleshooting

  • Album title is required: give it a title.
  • Scheduled releases come with Premium: your plan doesn't include scheduling. Pick another option.
  • Pick a release time in the future: the time you chose has already passed.
  • Visitors see a locked album: it's followers-only, private or not released yet.
