How do I add and manage photos?

Updated · 2 min read

You add photos to one of your albums, with an optional caption for each. Each photo gets its own page where people can react, comment, save, repost and share it.

Add photos

  1. Open the Create menu and tap Add photos, or open one of your albums and tap Add.
  2. Pick an album, or create one right in the sheet.
  3. Drop photos in or choose them: JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 20 MB each, up to 30 at a time.
  4. Add a caption under any photo if you like (up to 500 characters).
  5. Tap Add photos. A progress bar shows the upload. If any files were skipped, you'll see how many.

Photos follow the album's setting for who can see them. See Photo albums.

Viewing photos

  • On an album page, tap a photo to open the full-screen viewer. Use the arrows, swipe, or your keyboard's arrow keys to move between photos.
  • Every photo also has its own page, /username/photos/number, with the photos before and after it in the album.
  • The side panel shows the author, the caption, which album it's in, thumbs up and thumbs down, Repost, Save, Share and comments.

Manage your photos

On your own photos, the ⋯ menu has:

  • Add a caption or Edit caption.
  • Make album cover.
  • Delete photo: removes it from the album and your profile for good, with its likes and comments.

You can also Boost a photo from its panel. On other people's photos, the menu has Message and Report.

Limits

  • JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP only. The file itself is checked, so a renamed file of another type won't upload.
  • Up to 20 MB per photo and 30 photos per upload. Add more by uploading again.
  • Captions up to 500 characters.

Troubleshooting

  • Use a JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP image: convert the photo (for example, iPhone HEIC photos) and try again.
  • Images can be up to 20 MB: resize or compress the photo.
  • Add up to 30 photos at a time: split the upload into smaller batches.
  • Pick an album or Create the album first: choose or create an album before uploading.
  • Upload failed: check your connection and try again. Your selected photos and captions stay in the sheet.
