Jamal Ingram, musical producer, songwriter and remixer is a triple threat in the local art scene and goes by the name The Wordologist.
"15-years-ago I decided to do music I was never really a musician, more a producer with a good ear for music."
As a wordologist of the gospel, he'll teach you "The Power of Jesus' Name," as he entitles his first demo in '95.
The Wordologist jump started his career in 1998 when he moved to Gaithersburg and met rapper Tru Soldier a.k.a Terrell Sullivan, Victor Chavez and Michael Charles; together they created, The Advocates of Unity, formally known as Koinonia
"We split in 2001. Me and Terrell stayed together and created the group, Phusion. Our music had an international flavor- African, Indian and Latin influences mixed with Hip-Hop."
The Phusion performed from coast to coast traveling from Florida to Peru ministering to people about Christ through music. The Phusion were together until 2008. During that time The Professor went to do remixes.
"My first remix was in 2000. I remixed a song from Bloody Ink called, "The Pain of the Messiah" and I started messing around with music recording software.
From then The Wordologist began to feel the wind of his career take speed. He knew he couldn't lose with Jesus on his side and remixed the song, "Win," for Robbie Robinson in 2005. He also remixed songs for rapper Sinner, The Saints and many others. His musical journey has not been easy there were many times he felt "The Devil On My Back," but he kept going cause he knew that God has given us authority over the enemy cause "He Reigns". One of the goals of The Professor is to uncover "The Mask of Me" bringing revelation to the Body of Christ and the world through music that God is real and wants to be a part of our everyday lives.
The Wordologist says, "I really seek to reach people of all nations through music. That's my heart."
Currently, the local phenomenon is about to release the highly anticipated project "Wordology". less
