Topping up a boost

Updated · 2 min read

A top-up adds budget to a boost you already paid for, and can push back its end date. The boost keeps its history and stats instead of starting over. Top-ups are paid through your cart, like the boost itself.

Which boosts can be topped up

Any paid boost: running, paused or ended. A boost that’s still Not paid has to be paid for from your cart first. The item still needs to be public.

Step by step

  1. Open the top-up sheet from any of these:
    • Top up on the item’s page (on a computer, Top up opens a menu with your boosts for it and New boost; on a phone, choose Top up boost from the menu),
    • Top up next to the item in the boost picker,
    • the Boosts tab in Creator Studio (Top up on an ended boost, or Top up budget in a campaign’s menu),
    • or You already boosted this at the top of Create Your Boost.
  2. If the item has more than one paid boost, choose which one.
  3. Under Pay with, choose Card or XP (or $DORA when $DORA payments are available).
  4. Under Add to the budget, tap an amount or type your own. The allowed range is shown under the box.
  5. Under Run until, keep the current end date, add 7, 14 or 30 days, or Pick a date (up to a year ahead). If the boost has ended, you must pick a new end date.
  6. Check the summary (how much it adds and how much will be left to spend), then press Add to cart.
  7. Pay from your cart. The budget is added as soon as the payment goes through.

Good to know

  • A paused boost stays paused after a top-up. Press Resume on the Boosts tab when you’re ready.
  • An ended or spent boost starts running again once the top-up is paid.
  • Each boost can have one unpaid top-up in your cart. Adding a new one replaces it.
  • A boost with a top-up waiting shows a top-up in your cart note on the Boosts tab.

Top up or start a new boost?

Top up when you want the same ad to keep going with its numbers in one place. Start a New boost when you want different ad text or separate stats.

Troubleshooting

  • “This boost isn’t paid for yet.” Pay for the boost from your cart first, then top it up.
  • “This boost has ended. Pick a new end date.” Choose one of the + days options or pick a date.
  • “Payment method changed; top up again.” Remove the top-up from your cart and add it again with the payment method you want.
