ViennaCC’s “When I See You” is a pop/rock love song that wears its heart openly, and the accompanying music video embraces that same sincerity with a charming retro twist. The track itself is intentionally uncomplicated - an ode to the rush of young love, built on simple, poetic lines that capture the fluttering nerves, the emotional clarity and the quiet certainty that come with falling deeply for someone. It’s a song that doesn’t hide behind metaphor; instead, it leans into emotional transparency, celebrating the physical and emotional sensations of newfound affection.

A Journey Back to the 60s
The music video transports viewers straight into the aesthetic of the 1960s. ViennaCC performs on a theater stage alongside a full band, framed by a set design that is both playful and slightly surreal. Oversized eyes gaze out from the stage décor - an on the nose but effective visual echo of the song’s theme - while a massive backdrop featuring peculiar, stylized heads adds a touch of psychedelic whimsy.

Live Atmosphere Through Clever Editing
Intercut shots of the audience and the technician control room give the video the feel of a live broadcast from a bygone era. These glimpses behind the scenes help ground the otherwise stylized performance, creating a sense of immediacy and authenticity, as though the viewer has stumbled upon a vintage TV recording.

Humor in the Details
ViennaCC doesn’t shy away from injecting humor. A sleeping police officer appears in the audience - a tongue in cheek nod to European regulations requiring security personnel at theater performances. Later, a cutaway reveals a vendor dozing off at the outside buffet during the show. These small comedic beats add warmth and personality, preventing the video from taking itself too seriously.

Visual Texture With a Polaroid Soul
The video’s intense color palette and minimal visual noise evoke the tactile charm of old Polaroid photographs. The result is a nostalgic, slightly dreamy atmosphere that reinforces the song’s emotional simplicity and timelessness. It feels like a memory - soft around the edges, vivid in feeling.

In the end, “When I See You” succeeds because it knows exactly what it wants to be: a heartfelt pop/rock love song paired with a visually nostalgic, lightly humorous music video that celebrates both romance and retro flair. ViennaCC delivers a piece that is sincere, charming and unmistakably his own, inviting viewers to step into a world where love is simple, colors are bold and even the security guard can’t resist drifting off for a moment.

Lyrics:
When I See You

Verse 1
When I see you, the sidewalk starts to sing
The lampposts play a song, the church bells ring
The city wears a smile it never knew
And every night feels warm when I see you

Verse 2
When I see you, the trains forget their tracks (forget it)
My heart runs faster, never once looks back (never back)
The wind turns soft and whispers something true
The whole world feels brand new when I see you

Verse 3
When I see you, the clocks all lose their hands
The rivers rise and dance across the land
The broken songs find melodies brand new
And love comes shining through when I see you

Chorus 1 & 2:
When I see you, I know it's true
I'm in love, in love with you
So let's hold hands and never let go
I love you, yes, I know, I know

Medley:
When I see you
Mmmmh, when I see you
Oh la la
My oh my

Ende:
When I see you, mmmmh
