The Grammy-winning rapper behind "Bust a Move" returns as "Fun Part" debuts on the Rhythmic Airplay chart

One of hip-hop’s earliest hitmakers is back on the Billboard charts, returning with his first new song to reach the rankings in more than two decades. Young MC’s “Fun Part,” released on the rapper’s Disco Theory label, lands a No. 38 debut on the Rhythmic Airplay chart and gives its creator his first visit to a Billboard chart with a new song since “Heatseeker” in 2002. Among other placements, “Heatseeker” reached No.6 on the Hot Singles Sales chart and No. 92 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list.

“It feels exhilarating and nerve-wracking at the same time,” Young MC tells Billboard upon his new track’s entrance to the charts. “On the one hand, it’s a validation for all the hard work I’ve put in over decades to grow as an artist and a producer. But at the same time, I feel the pressure to keep the momentum going. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

For well over 30 years, Young MC has brought music and entertainment to the masses. He has always been mindful of his audience, and respectful of its diversity. From the studio to the stage to to the listener, Young MC has provided a sound for people to move to. And that’s not going to stop anytime soon…

SONG LYRICS: "FUN PART"

Straight off the Serve with it
I'm a Navigate and Swerve with it
Put it Down with a n o u n or a verb with it
Online with a rhyme or a blurb with it

Havin' Bad Wheels when you're scratchin' up
t h e c u r b w i t h it
Some Say that I got a lotta nerve with it
Makin' sure that you get what you deserve w i t h it
Wke you up through the do not disturb with it
Country - to City - to Burbs with it
JUST CRANK - your stereo to this scenario
Listen to the vision comin from a visionary yo
This is no mirage this is not imaginary no
I just want to make it legendary yo
COME THRU your area yea we takin care of ya
Bring the whole crew like an aircraft carrier
S e e a brick wall a n d we're breakin thru t h e barrier

Fun Part is the name of the lyric
Straight Smash and you know it when you h e a r it
No Samples so ain't no need to clear it
Even if ypu can't see it you can feel it in your spirit
Like Flame Hot when you gettin' near it
Not Frightening so ain't no need to fear it
New sound baby let me pioneer it
Like a car drives better when you steer it
JUST FIND reality - or practicality
Go for what you know and you could show your personality
Be individual with individuality
And Just make Fun your mentality
Hook (Run it back)
JUST CRANK your stereo to this scenario
Listen t o t h e vision comin from a visionary yo
This is no mirage this is not imaginary no
I just want to make it legendary yo (and)
