Rain is a symbol of change... I learned this from my high school English teacher as we analyzed and examined literary and cinematic works and discovered “The Hero’s Journey” in several different stories. As a plot device, rain is always a major indicator that something or someone in the story is undergoing change or will soon be exposed to change.
Seasonally, springtime is usually when we get the most rain and also when nature undergoes some of the most dramatic change, as dormant plants and flowers bloom and come to life with beautiful color and design. The Bible says that God makes the rain to fall on the just and the unjust alike. No matter who you are or what you believe, God has made his grace and forgiveness available to you just as freely as the rain that falls from the sky. Just as rain is a catalyst and provider of necessary nourishment for growth in plant life, the grace and forgiveness of God is just as necessary in order for the spirit and soul of man to survive and to thrive.
