"Intro: Right On Time is a group that hails from Chicago,Illinois. The group consist of Raz-sputin, Half-Pint, and Nina Ross. This album was released back in 1999 on Minz Records. The album is entirely produced by Darrell Bolden and features an appearance from Jah-Rista. The truely unique aspect of this project is that there is virtually no cursing in the lyrics on this album. The album is entirely produced by Darrell Bolden and features an appearance from Jah-Rista. The truely unique aspect of this project is that there is virtually no cursing in the lyrics on this album. Furthermore, this album carries alot of positive rap/ slight religious themes while using the underground chicago rap style to get their point across.
Interlude: After the "Intro" the album kicks off with a supertight song "Take Drastic Measures" featuring Jah-Rista of the Mercesinares. The production has thunderous, earth quaking, death is on it's way feel with threatening sound effects. The chorus is very threatening adds more atmosphere to the song overall. Raz-sputin and Jah-Rista rip this shit apart and doesn't hold back in terms of delivery either. Its good to hear some vintage Jah-Rista. Classic Underground shit. Up Next is "Eight(8)" and its definitely one of my favorites I play often. The production is somewhat hard hitting with methodical tempo and pulse thumping sound effects. Right On Time really shines lyrically on this song showcases to it's fullest on the verses and the chorus. Half-Pint and Nina Ross rips that shit. Bump it."Decapitated Ligaments" is some shit that reminds me so much of Psychodrama. The production is super sinister and dark with nightmarish sound effects. Right On Time flows come off so clean on this shit I must say. After the skit "Why Is It?" interlude is "Came Up Some", which is one of better songs on this shit . The production very is very charged up and quick paced, its definitely a beat that will give you an adrenaline rush. Right On Time just basically rides the beat to fullest and flows off the handle. Bump it. After "Pain"(Interlude) the song "Tell Us What Went Wrong" is up next. The production has somber and reminiscing back on life type of feel. The content by Right On Time is basically about the bad choices make in there life and the results of those bad choices. A real tight song to do some deep thinking to.I usually skip "Friday Night" which is a party song. "Ebayarway" is up next and this is my shitttt. The production has a clean thumping underground feel. The content is pretty clever and the flows on this shit is solid all the way thru. "Live By the Sword Die By The Sword" is next and get much play. The production has a moody, creeping in the dark, and end of life type of feel at somewhat slow paced tempo. I must their flow and content on this song shows much polish and shows flaws in the verses or chorus. It's basically a song about reaping what you sow. Bump it. After "The Thirsty Poet, Saleem" interlude is the final tight full song on here with "Everyday Life Life Has A Meaning". The production has a real laid back, emotional, life in retrospective type of beat makes you do some deep thinking. The chorus also some very somber singing on the chorus that pulls you in even further. Right On Time drops some very deep lyrics about life and death comes tight with delivering their message across. Classic deep song in my opinion that reminds me of Psychodrama's "Time Vs Life" and Outside's "Rotten". "Get On Up and Jump" is basically ghetto house song, which fits in nicely on this album but I dont play it much. The Final song "Warning" before "Chat with Delle Del" is supertight which is more or less a outro song. The production is super dark and ominous. Right On Time flows supertight on this shit. Its short but a perfect way to end the album.
Outro: The production on this album captured Right On Time's sound to fullest and was on par with their overall talent level. Thus producing a project fully in sync with their flows and rhymes. Right On Time positive rap content layered over traditional underground chicago rap sound is truly a unique combination and a sight to be heard. Right On Time did put out a ep called "Dead On Arrival" after not much else from them can be found.I actually had been searching for this album for over 6 years. I seen this album go for atleast $350 on ebay. Luckly I found it for a cheap price. Either way its rare about does tend to pop up every once in a while. I think its a must have for any chicago/midwest collection." less
